What is the Difference Between CoolSculpting and Vanquish for Body Contouring?

Houston men and women who have tried losing weight, but still have problem areas, may be considering cosmetic procedures to rid their bodies of unwanted fat. There are two non-surgical treatment options proven to permanently remove fat from the body: CoolSculpting and Vanquish. But, what is the difference between these two procedures, and which is the right one for you? Read on to discover the differences between CoolSculpting and Vanquish.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an outpatient procedure that uses a special hand-held device that goes on top of your problem areas – about the size of a stick of butter – to freeze and kill fat cells. It provides lasting results and typically removes about 22 to 25% of the fat cells that it targets. Since each CoolSculpting session treats a small problem area, it can take multiple sessions to treat a larger problem area, such as the entire abdomen. CoolSculpting works by targeting and freezing fat cells, causing fat cells to die over time, keeping surrounding tissue unchanged, and naturally eliminating your dead fat cells. Generally speaking, you’ll see results from your CoolSculpting session within 2-3 weeks, though your body will continue to eliminate dead fat cells for 4-6 months.

What is Vanquish?

Vanquish is another outpatient procedure that uses a specialized device that hovers over your body’s problem areas and delivers Radio Frequency (RF) heat to break up fat cells while keeping surrounding tissue unchanged. Each Vanquish session targets a broad section of your problem area – more than is targeted with CoolSculpting. Houston Med Spa recommends four sessions of Vanquish per client, after which you can expect to lose up to 59% of abdominal fat! Another benefit of Vanquish is that it can be used by people who have more fat to target and BMIs higher than 30, though Houston Med Spa does not recommend Vanquish for clients who are obese.

What are the Main Differences Between CoolSculpting and Vanquish?

If you’re considering a non-surgical treatment option to rid your body of unwanted fat, you may be wondering what the differences are between these two proven technologies. The differences between CoolSculpting and Vanquish include:

  • Fat Killing Method

CoolSculpting freezes fat cells, while Vanquish uses RF technology to heat them up.

  • Treatment Area

The treatment area for CoolSculpting is smaller and more targeted than the treatment area for Vanquish. It can take several CoolSculpting applicators to treat the abdomen, for example, while the Vanquish applicator covers a larger area.

  • Treatment Method

With CoolSculpting, small areas of the fatty tissue are sucked into the device and left for  35 – 45 minutes. CoolSculpting is great for targeting specific pockets of fat. By contrast, the Vanquish device hovers directly over the area, providing a more general shrinking of the area as opposed to a specific bulge.

  • Comfort Level

Both  CoolSculpting and Vanquish patients find the technology to be comfortable.
