Onda uses microwave energy at 2.45 GHz — a frequency that's selectively absorbed by fat cells and water-rich tissue while passing through the skin with minimal heating. Two specialized handpieces target different tissue layers: the Shallow handpiece for cellulite (fibrous septae) and superficial skin tightening, and the Deep handpiece for localized fat reduction and deep collagen remodeling. Both handpieces also stimulate skin tightening at their respective depths. Cellulite & Superficial Skin Tightening
The Shallow handpiece delivers microwave energy to the superficial tissue layer where cellulite lives. It targets the fibrous septae — the rigid connective tissue bands that pull skin inward and create dimpling — releasing their grip for visibly smoother contours. Simultaneously, the controlled thermal energy stimulates collagen production in the upper dermal layer, tightening the skin above the treated area.

Fat Reduction & Deep Collagen Remodeling
The Deep handpiece penetrates further into subcutaneous tissue, where its microwave energy is selectively absorbed by adipocytes (fat cells), causing controlled thermal damage that triggers apoptosis — permanent fat cell death. At the same time, the energy stimulates fibroblasts in the deeper dermal layer to produce new collagen and elastin, resulting in progressive skin tightening and improved texture over the weeks following treatment.

What to Expect
During Treatment
Your provider selects the appropriate handpiece based on your treatment goals — Shallow for cellulite and surface skin tightening, or Deep for fat reduction and deep collagen remodeling. Both handpieces can be used in the same session to address different concerns in the same area. You'll feel warmth and a vibrating sensation as the microwaves are delivered. The integrated cooling system keeps the skin comfortable throughout.
After Treatment
You may experience mild warmth or redness in the treated area that resolves within hours. There's no downtime — clients walk straight from our Woodway Drive suite to the Galleria, back to the Energy Corridor office, or home to Memorial. For optimal cellulite results, your provider may recommend Ballancer PRO lymphatic drainage post-treatment.
Results Timeline
Fat reduction results emerge over 4-8 weeks as destroyed fat cells are processed and eliminated. Cellulite improvement is often noticeable within 2-3 weeks as fibrous bands release. Skin tightening is progressive, continuing for up to 3 months as new collagen matures.
