Arctic Laser Peel
Precision Resurfacing.
Fresh Foundation.

The Arctic Laser Peel uses 2940nm erbium:YAG laser energy to remove damaged surface skin in precisely controlled layers — measured in microns rather than guesswork. Unlike chemical peels where acid penetration varies by zone and skin thickness, the erbium laser delivers uniform depth across every treated area, creating a perfectly even canvas of fresh, healthy tissue. This controlled approach lets your provider dial in exactly the amount of correction you need: light settings produce a gentle refresh with 2-3 days of recovery, while deeper settings achieve dramatic texture correction in a single session. At Ovation, the Arctic Laser Peel serves both as a standalone treatment for surface renewal and as a platform for enhanced topical delivery — applying growth factors and regenerative serums to freshly resurfaced skin for maximum absorption. In Houston's UV-intense environment, where chronic sun exposure layers damage year after year, the Arctic Laser Peel provides the reset that reveals the healthier skin beneath.

The Science

How the Arctic Laser Peel Works

The 2940nm erbium:YAG wavelength is highly absorbed by water in the skin, allowing precise tissue removal layer by layer. Unlike CO2 lasers that create significant thermal damage zones, erbium produces minimal collateral heat — meaning faster healing, less redness, and lower risk of complications.

Surface Removal
2940nm Erbium Ablation
Each laser pass removes approximately 5-15 microns of tissue. Multiple passes can be stacked to reach the desired depth — from superficial exfoliation (20-30 microns) to medium-depth resurfacing (60-100+ microns).
  • Precise, uniform tissue removal measured in microns
  • Removes sun-damaged, pigmented, and textured surface tissue
  • Multiple passes allow customized depth per treatment zone
  • Minimal thermal spread compared to CO2 resurfacing
Regenerative Response
Wound-Healing Cascade
Removing damaged surface tissue triggers the body's wound-healing response. New keratinocytes migrate from the wound edges and surrounding adnexal structures, while fibroblasts produce fresh collagen in the exposed dermis.
  • New epidermal cells replace damaged, photoaged tissue
  • Dermal collagen remodeling continues for 2-3 months
  • Surface renewal reveals healthier, more even-toned skin
  • Enhanced topical absorption during the healing phase
Why Arctic Laser Peel

Treatment Advantages

🎚️
Customizable Depth
From gentle surface refresh to medium-depth correction — your provider adjusts depth per zone to match your goals and available recovery time.
📏
Micron-Level Precision
Unlike chemical peels where depth varies by skin absorption, the laser removes tissue uniformly — every area gets exactly the prescribed correction.
🧹
True Surface Reset
Physically removes the damaged surface layer that no topical can penetrate through — revealing the fresh foundation beneath accumulated UV damage.
Faster Healing vs CO2
Erbium produces less thermal damage than CO2 lasers, meaning faster healing, less prolonged redness, and lower complication rates with comparable surface correction.
💉
Topical Delivery Window
Freshly resurfaced skin absorbs growth factors, exosomes, and regenerative serums at maximum capacity — turning resurfacing into a delivery opportunity.
🔄
Complement to Other Treatments
Pairs with BBL for pre-treatment pigment targeting, ThermiSmooth for periorbital areas, and regenerative biologics for post-treatment healing acceleration.
Your Treatment

What to Expect

Before Your Session

Discontinue retinoids 5-7 days before treatment. Avoid unprotected sun exposure for 2-4 weeks prior. Arrive with clean, product-free skin. We'll apply topical numbing cream for 30-45 minutes and discuss the targeted treatment depth.

During Treatment

You'll feel warmth and a mild stinging sensation as the laser passes over the treatment area. Each pass takes seconds per zone. Your provider may make multiple passes over areas requiring deeper correction while keeping more delicate areas at lighter settings.

The treatment is well-tolerated with topical numbing. You may smell a faint scent as surface tissue is ablated — this is normal and expected.

After Treatment

The treated area will be pink to red with a raw, clean appearance. Your provider applies post-treatment serums and a barrier cream. Over the next 3-7 days, the skin will go through a peeling and flaking phase as new tissue emerges from beneath.

Keep the area moisturized with provided products, avoid sun exposure, and do not pick or pull at peeling skin. By day 5-7, fresh pink skin will have replaced the treated surface. This new skin matures to your normal tone over the following weeks.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Arctic Laser Peel?+
The Arctic Laser Peel uses a 2940nm erbium:YAG laser to precisely remove the outermost layers of damaged skin — like a controlled, laser-powered exfoliation. Unlike chemical peels that rely on acid penetration, the laser offers precise depth control measured in microns. The result is predictable, uniform resurfacing with fresh, healthy skin revealed as the treated area heals.
How does the Arctic Laser Peel compare to chemical peels?+
The Arctic Laser Peel offers superior depth control and uniformity compared to chemical peels. While chemical peels depend on acid concentration and skin absorption (which varies by zone), the erbium laser removes tissue at a precisely controlled depth across the entire treatment area. Recovery is similar to a medium chemical peel (3-7 days) but results are more predictable.
What's the downtime?+
Depending on the treatment depth, expect 3-7 days of visible peeling and redness. Superficial settings produce a light flaking phase (2-3 days) similar to a good chemical peel. Deeper settings create more pronounced peeling with a 5-7 day recovery. Your provider customizes depth to balance correction with your schedule.
Is the Arctic Laser Peel safe for all skin types?+
The Arctic Laser Peel is best suited for Fitzpatrick I-III. Patients with darker skin tones may have higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation with erbium resurfacing. For Fitzpatrick IV-VI, alternatives like Tixel or Moxi may be more appropriate. Your provider will assess your skin type during consultation.
Can I combine the Arctic Laser Peel with other treatments?+
Yes. The Arctic Laser Peel pairs well with BBL Hero (for pigment targeting before resurfacing), growth factor or exosome application (applied while the resurfaced skin absorbs at maximum capacity), and ThermiSmooth (for periorbital areas the laser doesn't treat). Combination timing and sequencing are customized to your specific goals.
