What Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatment Is Best?

Combine advanced technology with increasing interest in nonsurgical cosmetic procedures, and one of the results is having options for vaginal rejuvenation. At our med spa in Houston, we provide several different vaginal rejuvenation treatments for patients. By offering a range of treatment alternatives, we ensure patients can choose the option that best meets their needs.

What Is Vaginal Rejuvenation?

Vaginal rejuvenation is really a catchall phrase used to describe both nonsurgical energy-based devices and surgical procedures designed to improve the vagina’s function, health, or appearance. Many women consider vaginal rejuvenation to address dramatic changes to their genital area that result from childbirth, weight loss, or the natural effects of aging.

Women were once limited to surgical procedures such as labiaplasty or vaginoplasty to treat these concerns. This invasive approach involves recovery time and more risk than the nonsurgical alternatives that have been developed.

Comparing Vaginal Rejuvenation Treatments

Ovation Med Spa treatment options include ThermiVa®, diVa®, and Emsella®. Each treatment has specific benefits that stem from the technology used for the treatment.

Let’s take a look at each of these procedures:

ThermiVa

ThermiVa is among the most popular nonsurgical vaginal rejuvenation procedures available. It uses the heat produced by radiofrequency energy to tighten vaginal and vulvar tissue by stimulating collagen production and increasing blood flow to the tissue.

What happens during a ThermiVa treatment?

The provider first applies a gel that helps conduct the device’s radiofrequency energy. This energy is delivered through an S-shaped wand that glides over the inner and outer lips of the labia and inside the vagina. Three, 30-minute treatment sessions are recommended, spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Patients say there is no discomfort during the procedure. There’s no downtime needed, and patients can have sexual intercourse the same day.

Who is a good ThermiVa candidate?

Women concerned about a feeling of “looseness” after having multiple vaginal births can benefit from ThermiVa treatments. It’s also effective at tightening sagging labial tissue that can be displeasing aesthetically and create some self-consciousness when wearing leotards or bikinis.

diVa

A diVa treatment tightens vaginal tissue and improves its elasticity using hybrid fractional laser technology. Hybrid means 2 different laser wavelengths are involved—one resurfaces the superficial tissue, enhancing lubrication, while the other laser wavelength heats deeper layers to stimulate collagen production. As with ThermiVa, the result is tighter vaginal tissue and increased elasticity.

What happens during a diVa treatment?

After numbing the treatment area, a wand inserted into the vagina rotates and delivers pulses of laser energy to vaginal tissue evenly. Patients feel some pressure during the procedure, which takes only about 5 minutes, but no other discomfort. It takes 3 separate treatment sessions to get the desired results. You can resume normal daily activities after the procedure but should avoid having sex for about a week.

Who is a good diVa candidate?

Women who can benefit from ThermiVa are also good candidates for diVa treatments. DiVa is ideal if you’re concerned about vaginal dryness and the loss of sensation during sexual intercourse. It also helps women with urinary incontinence. We also offer divaTyte™, which uses light energy to tighten vaginal tissue.

Emsella

Emsella is a non-invasive procedure that treats urinary incontinence using high-intensity, focused electromagnetic technology (HIFEM) to stimulate muscle contractions in your pelvic floor. Patients sit fully clothed during the procedure in a specially designed chair that emits electromagnetic energy. During a 30-minute treatment session, pelvic floor muscles contract involuntarily more than 11,000 times—much more powerfully than regular Kegel exercises.
