Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Tixel in Houston.

What is Tixel Skin Resurfacing?
Tixel is non-invasive skin resurfacing using only targeted heat. Tixel gives extraordinary results in treating a wide range of conditions. Tixel uses thermo-mechanicalablation technology (TMA) to provide anti-aging improvements to the skin tone and texture, giving it a radiant and youthful appearance . Tixel delivers results that are comparable to deep skin peels and intensive laser treatments, with much less downtime, less pain and faster recovery times. The Tixel treatment is ideal for those seeking smoother, more radiant and revitalized looking skin, but who are worried about downtime. Tixel is suitable for treating skin pigmentation and discoloration, as well as pores, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, age spots, active acne, acne scars, lip lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet & neck folds among others. Body parts such as abdomen, knees and arms also get great results. The added benefit is that it continues to deliver results that improve over time and can last for several years (as it is your own collagen that produces the effects).
How Does Tixel Work?
Tixel is a brand new method of treating skin using thermo-mechanical ablative (TMA) technology. Tixel is a unique skin rejuvenation method which uses no chemicals or invasive measures that penetrate the skin. Tixel works by delivering 81 tiny needle-like pyramids on a titanium tip heated to 400°C. The Titanium pyramid tips of the Tixel® touch only a tiny area of the skin. As the Tixel® activates, a very brief and uniform spherical heat wave radiates outward and downward to the skin. Tixel stimulates collagen production through heat energy. This action is particularly useful for the reduction or complete cure of fine skin lines and wrinkles, as well as skin pigmentations and discolorations. Collagen production by Tixel is also known for treating acne scars, sun damage and uneven skin texture and tone. Increase in collagen and elastin makes skin tighter and firmer.
What are the advantages of Tixel over other treatments?
Tixel delivers a fast and convenient treatment Delivers fantastic results Minimal to no pain/discomfort Minimal to no downtime (fast healing) No toxic chemicals, scalpels or needles Suitable for a wide array of body parts, including face, neck, décolletage, arms and periorbital area
How does Tixel in Houston compare to other skin resurfacing techniques?
Tixel is superior to certain methods of skin resurfacing such as laser, radiofrequency (RF), ultrasound and chemical peel, for the following reasons: Tixel can be used for the areas which cannot be treated by these other methods of skin resurfacing safely, such as the eyelids, around the eye (periorbital area), marionette lines and other areas. Tixel is superior in treating the face, neck décolletage, hands, back and legs. The other reason for superiority of Tixel is the unique advantage of being far less painful and the downtime/recovery period with Tixel is much shorter, and almost non-existent, despite the fact that after a course of Tixel treatment, the results may last up to 2 years. Tixel is thought to be an unrivaled treatment, and the results of eyelid treatment is thought to be comparable with blepharoplasty. After three sessions of Tixel eyelid treatment, the tightening and gentle correction of the loose eyelid skin is akin to blepharoplasty.
Who is an ideal candidate for Tixel in Houston?
Anyone who is looking to correct certain skin imperfections such as wrinkling, scarring, or skin laxity may be a good candidate for Tixel. During a consultation with your provider, you will undergo a complete skin assessment. Our highly trained team will better identify your areas of concern and determine whether Tixel is the right option for you.
How long does Tixel take?
Tixel treatment lasts roughly 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area(s) being treated. Prior to treatment, an anesthetic cream may be applied to the face to minimize any discomfort. Once skin is adequately numb, the treatment can begin. During treatment, the Tixel machine will be applied to the area(s) of the skin being treated. During treatment, thermal energy will be controlled and varied depending on the condition being treated, through reducing skin contact and thermal conductivity.
What happens after a Tixel treatment?
Expect to feel a warm feeling for a couple of hours after treatment like if you were out in the sun on a hot summer day. Sunscreen is recommended to prevent further skin damage Redness may last for a few days Expect some micro crusting (small scabbing). This will clear after 3-5 days Patients should not expect any peeling or blistering Makeup can be used after 48 hours to cover your skin while healing continues. We suggest mineral makeup Patients can expect to see a difference after 1 treatment, but depending upon your unique needs you may require a course of 3-5 sessions for optimal results Final results can be seen 4-6 weeks after treatment
