BBL Hero
Reverse Sun Damage.
Restore Youth.
BBL Hero is Sciton's most advanced broadband light platform — delivering high-powered, precisely filtered light energy to target pigmentation, redness, vascular lesions, and overall skin tone. But BBL goes beyond cosmetic correction: Stanford University research demonstrated that regular BBL treatments change gene expression in aged skin cells, causing them to behave more like young skin at the molecular level. This is the scientific foundation of the Forever Young BBL protocol — not just treating damage that's already visible, but actively reversing the aging process in the skin's DNA expression. At Ovation, BBL Hero serves as the color-correction layer in comprehensive skin health protocols. While Sofwave rebuilds collagen structure and EmFace restores muscle tone, BBL Hero addresses the pigment, vascular, and tone irregularities that make skin look aged. In Houston, where year-round UV exposure is relentless, BBL Hero is less a luxury and more a necessity for maintaining youthful, even-toned skin.

BBL Hero is one of over 17 skin health technologies at Ovation. It's the color-correction specialist that pairs with structural treatments for comprehensive rejuvenation. Clients from River Oaks, the Galleria area, and Memorial Villages schedule BBL Hero sessions at our Woodway Drive office in Houston's Uptown district.

BBL Hero delivers intense broadband light through interchangeable filters that target specific chromophores — melanin for pigmentation, hemoglobin for redness and vascular lesions. The light energy is absorbed by these targets, heating them to the point of destruction while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.
- 515-560nm: targets melanin for brown spots and sun damage
- 560-590nm: targets hemoglobin for redness and broken capillaries
- Dual-pass technique treats pigment and vascular in one session
- 4x faster pulse delivery than previous-generation IPL platforms
- Aged skin cells shift toward youthful gene expression patterns
- Changes observed across multiple aging-related gene pathways
- Effects are cumulative with regular maintenance treatments
- This molecular mechanism explains why BBL-maintained skin ages more slowly
Treatment Advantages
What to Expect
Before Your Session
Avoid direct sun exposure and self-tanners for 2-4 weeks before treatment. Arrive with clean skin — no makeup or sunscreen. Your provider will assess your skin, select the appropriate filters, and calibrate energy settings based on your concerns and skin type.
During Treatment
You'll wear protective eye shields. Your provider applies a thin layer of coupling gel and glides the BBL handpiece across the treatment area. Each pulse feels like a quick, warm snap — brief and very tolerable. Full-face treatment takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
Different filters may be used in the same session to target both pigmentation and redness. Some clients request the Forever Young BBL protocol as a maintenance visit combined with other treatments in the same appointment.
After Treatment
Pigmented spots will darken over the next 1-3 days — this means the treatment is working. These darkened spots form light crusts (coffee-ground texture) that shed naturally over 5-10 days. Redness-targeted areas may show slight pinkness for 24-48 hours.
You can wear mineral sunscreen and makeup the same day. Strict sun protection is essential for the following 2-4 weeks to prevent rebound pigmentation. Results continue improving as darkened spots shed and new, even-toned skin is revealed.
