Halo
Hybrid Fractional
Laser Resurfacing

Halo changed what's possible in laser resurfacing. As the world's first hybrid fractional laser, it delivers two wavelengths — ablative 2940nm erbium and non-ablative 1470nm — simultaneously through a single Sciton handpiece. The ablative wavelength vaporizes damaged surface tissue: rough texture, enlarged pores, sun spots, and discoloration. The non-ablative wavelength penetrates deeper, heating the upper dermis to stimulate collagen remodeling for fine line reduction and firming. The hybrid approach produces results that previously required fully ablative CO₂ lasers — with 3-5 days of recovery instead of 2-3 weeks. At Ovation, we strongly recommend enhancing every Halo treatment with exosome therapy. Halo creates thousands of micro-channels in the skin — the perfect delivery system for exosomes' growth factors and regenerative signaling molecules. The combination accelerates healing, improves collagen quality, and produces more uniform results than Halo alone. This is resurfacing as it should be done — dual-wavelength precision enhanced by regenerative science.

The Science

How Halo + Exosome Enhancement Works

Three mechanisms working together — ablative surface correction, non-ablative collagen stimulation, and exosome regenerative signaling — for resurfacing results that exceed what any single approach achieves.

Surface Correction
2940nm Ablative Erbium Wavelength
The ablative wavelength targets the epidermis and superficial dermis. Fractional columns of tissue are vaporized — removing sun-damaged cells, pigmented lesions, rough texture, and enlarged pore structure. The fractional pattern (treated columns surrounded by untreated tissue) preserves a healing reservoir that dramatically accelerates recovery compared to fully ablative approaches.
  • Vaporizes damaged epidermal tissue in controlled fractional columns
  • Removes pigmented lesions, sun spots, and discoloration
  • Reduces pore size by restructuring pore architecture
  • Fractional pattern enables rapid healing from surrounding tissue
Deep Renewal
1470nm Non-Ablative Wavelength
Firing simultaneously with the ablative channel, the non-ablative 1470nm wavelength penetrates to the upper dermis without vaporizing tissue. Controlled thermal injury stimulates the wound-healing cascade — fibroblast activation, collagen denaturation, and subsequent neocollagenesis. This deeper energy channel addresses fine lines, skin laxity, and overall firmness that surface resurfacing alone cannot reach.
  • Heats upper dermis to stimulate fibroblast activation
  • Triggers neocollagenesis for progressive firmness improvement
  • Addresses fine lines at a depth surface ablation cannot reach
  • Simultaneous delivery with ablative channel — one pass, dual depth
Regenerative Enhancement
Exosome Therapy — Strongly Recommended
Applied immediately post-Halo while micro-channels remain open, exosomes penetrate 10-20x deeper than on intact skin. These cell-derived signaling vesicles deliver growth factors (EGF, FGF, VEGF) that accelerate fibroblast collagen production, anti-inflammatory cytokines that moderate redness and swelling, and regulatory microRNA that guides melanocyte behavior for more uniform pigment correction. Exosomes don't just speed healing — they improve the quality of the tissue that forms during the remodeling process.
  • Growth factors accelerate and improve collagen remodeling quality
  • Anti-inflammatory cytokines reduce redness duration and intensity
  • MicroRNA regulates melanocyte activity — reducing PIH risk
  • 10-20x deeper penetration through Halo's micro-channels vs. intact skin
Why Halo + Exosomes

Treatment Advantages

Dual-Wavelength Power
Two wavelengths, two depths, one pass — ablative surface correction plus non-ablative dermal remodeling deliver comprehensive resurfacing that previously required multiple devices.
🧬
Exosome-Enhanced Healing
Regenerative exosome signaling directs faster, higher-quality healing. Growth factors, cytokines, and microRNA optimize every phase of the tissue repair cascade triggered by Halo.
⏱️
Fraction of the Downtime
3-5 days of social downtime versus 2-3 weeks for fully ablative CO₂ lasers — with comparable results, especially with exosome enhancement accelerating recovery.
📊
Measurable Results
40-60% improvement in texture, tone, and pigmentation after a single session. Two-session series approaches fully ablative results with dramatically less cumulative downtime.
🎨
Comprehensive Correction
Addresses the full spectrum of surface concerns: sun damage, pigmentation, texture, pore size, fine lines, dullness. One technology, multiple improvements.
🎛️
Customizable Intensity
The ratio of ablative to non-ablative energy is adjustable — from lighter treatments with 2-3 day recovery to more aggressive settings for maximum correction. Tailored to your goals and tolerance.
Your Treatment

What to Expect

Before Your Session

Avoid direct sun exposure and self-tanners for 2-4 weeks. Discontinue retinoids 5-7 days prior. No chemical peels or other resurfacing treatments for 2 weeks before. If you have a history of cold sores, your provider will prescribe antiviral medication. Arrive with clean skin.

During Treatment

Topical numbing cream is applied 30-60 minutes before treatment. Your provider calibrates the Halo handpiece — adjusting ablative/non-ablative energy ratios and coverage density based on your skin concerns and desired downtime. Treatment takes 20-40 minutes depending on areas treated. You'll feel heat and prickling — well-tolerated with numbing.

Immediately post-treatment, your provider applies exosome solution to the freshly treated skin while micro-channels are open. This is the critical window for maximum penetration and uptake. The exosomes begin directing the healing cascade from the very first moments of recovery.

Recovery Timeline

Day 1: Skin feels warm and appears sunburned. Mild swelling, especially around eyes. Apply prescribed recovery balm. Days 2-3: Micro-swelling, bronzing begins as damaged tissue surfaces. Skin feels rough/sandpapery. Days 4-5: Bronzing flakes off — this is the dramatic reveal. Fresh, pink skin emerges underneath. Days 5-7: Skin normalizes to a healthy glow. With exosome enhancement, many clients report visibly faster progression through each healing phase. SPF 30+ mineral sunscreen daily for 4+ weeks.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Halo different from other lasers?+
Halo is the world's first hybrid fractional laser — delivering two wavelengths simultaneously through one handpiece. The 2940nm ablative erbium wavelength vaporizes damaged surface tissue (texture, pores, pigment), while the 1470nm non-ablative wavelength heats the upper dermis for collagen remodeling (fine lines, firmness). This dual-depth approach produces results comparable to fully ablative CO₂ lasers with 3-5 days of downtime instead of 2-3 weeks.
What does 'hybrid fractional' mean?+
Fractional means the laser treats a fraction of the skin — creating microscopic columns of treated tissue surrounded by untouched skin. This accelerates healing because the untreated skin provides a reservoir of healthy cells to rebuild the treated zones. Hybrid means both ablative (removes tissue) and non-ablative (heats without removing) wavelengths fire simultaneously. You get the corrective power of ablation with the collagen-stimulating depth of non-ablative treatment.
What results can I expect?+
Halo produces significant improvement in skin texture, pore size, fine lines, pigmentation, sun damage, and overall skin quality. Most clients see 40-60% improvement after a single treatment. A series of 2 Halo sessions (spaced 6-8 weeks apart) can approach the results of a single fully ablative treatment with dramatically less downtime per session.
Why does Ovation recommend exosomes with Halo?+
Halo creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin — open pathways that dramatically increase the penetration and uptake of topical treatments. Applying exosomes immediately post-Halo delivers growth factors, anti-inflammatory cytokines, and regulatory microRNA directly into these channels. The exosomes don't just heal the skin faster — they direct the quality of the healing response, producing more organized collagen, more uniform pigment correction, and reduced risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We strongly recommend exosome enhancement for every Halo treatment.
What's the recovery like?+
Days 1-2: Skin feels warm, appears sunburned with micro-swelling. Days 3-4: Bronzing effect as treated tissue surfaces — skin looks and feels like a sandpapery tan. Day 5: Bronzing flakes off, revealing fresh pink skin. Days 5-7: Skin normalizes to a healthy glow. With exosome enhancement, many clients report faster resolution of redness and smoother transition through the healing phases. Mineral SPF 30+ required daily.
How many Halo treatments do I need?+
One Halo treatment produces significant visible results. For maximum correction, 2 treatments spaced 6-8 weeks apart are recommended. After your initial series, annual Halo treatments maintain and continue building results. Many Ovation clients follow the Year-Long Skin Series protocol — alternating Halo treatments with lighter BBL+Moxi sessions throughout the year.
